We Make It Right, We Make It On Time

Producing Temporary Build Aids for Automotive Wiring Harness

A global supplier of electronic components, for automotive and commercial vehicles, uses temporary build aids to keep their wiring and components together and secure when traveling through different manufacturing processes on the assembly line.

When their temporary build aids were becoming expensive, the company sought out other economical alternatives.

The company selected Roemer Industries to prototype a new temporary build aid. The client needed an aid that could be easily installed onto the wiring harnesses and easily removed from its application on minivan firewalls.

Working closely with the customer, Roemer produced several prototype tabs, taking adhesive quality, size, and weight into consideration. Testing was involved to ensure the tab could stick to the firewall for the appropriate time requirement and that it could support the wiring harness throughout assembly.

A die-cut vinyl tab was the prototype that met these requirements. The tab temporarily holds wiring in place until it can be permanently installed. Roemer’s ability to produce the vinyl tab created an economical alternative, saving the company time and money during the assembly process.
